Our Approach

Capital recognises local communities as essential partners in sustaining operations, contributing both a skilled workforce and our social licence to operate.

We work to create socio‑economic value through local employment, training, procurement and community investment, while assessing and managing potential impacts before commencing new activities.

As community relationships are usually led by our clients, we align with their engagement teams, management plans and grievance processes, collaborating closely to address issues and support agreed development priorities.

Where we operate outside client sites, we directly engage communities and deliver targeted initiatives that reflect local needs and our commitment to responsible, sustainable operations.

Host Country Employment

Since our inception, we have prioritised local employment with the aim of creating value and positive socio-economic impacts in the communities and countries where we operate.

We aim to maximise employment not only from the host country but also from local communities near our operations. We place significant priority on enabling the transfer of skills and knowledge and ensuring training, development and mentoring of the local team.

Community Investment

UN SD Gs
Our community investment approach incorporates a commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) where we can make meaningful contributions.

Contributing to local communities has always been an important part of how we operate as a business. We prioritise our three strategic pillars, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Where our activities are based on our customer’s sites, we work with them to identify where Capital can best support their community development aims. Our customers take on the responsibility to engage local government and communities to identify and prioritise community development opportunities which we then discuss with our customers. Where our offices or laboratories are outside of our customer’s site footprint, we engage directly with local communities and government officials to identify nearby opportunities.

Local Procurement

Supporting local businesses is an important way for us to positively contribute to our communities – thereby sustaining economic development and enabling us to build strong ties with people around our operations.

While many goods and services required for our drilling, mining and laboratory activity are highly technical and can only be sourced from a few specialised companies, wherever possible we look to source locally from the countries and communities in which we operate, including certified local equipment manufacturer agents or distributors.
